How To Make Perfect Microwaveable Heated Neck Wraps

By Tara Daniels

Overworked muscles of the neck is a common problem among individuals who undergo physical exertion or suffer from stress. In such situation the use of heated neck wraps can be quite beneficial as it helps to relieve such pain. Instead of using electric heat pads its better to use microwavable ones as there is less danger of overheating the muscles.

One can either buy them from shops or make one of your own using different household items and natural ingredients. Firstly you need to select a fabric which is suitable for putting inside a microwave. Always opt for soft texture fabrics as garments like silk or satin may easily scorch if heated in a microwave. Its best to use fleece, flannel, denim or cotton fabric. You can also recycle your old garments for this purpose.

Make sure the garment size is enough to be wrapped around your neck comfortably. The cloth length should neither be too short nor too long otherwise it won't be fit for the purpose. Similarly the width should be enough to cover the whole area, anything wider than that will be quite uncomfortable.

Now comes the part where you have to select a suitable filling for the wrap. Usually a wrap resembles the shape of a sock which you can easily fill in and then later it is sealed in order to use it efficiently. The filling should possess the property of retaining heat for a long period of time. Filling material may consist of raw rice grains, beans, pulses, dry seeds as well as oatmeal. Apart from that you can also use dried herbs or flowers like lavender in order to add some relaxing aromatic feeling.

All you need to do is to choose such ingredient of your choice and then mix it well with your filling. Let this filling rest for at least 24 hours so that both ingredients blend in with each other. You can also add some oil or liquid sent like peppermint oil, almond oil, rosewater, etc. Ingredients like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and rose petals are considered an excellent choice as well.

A short time later pour the filling inside the wrap and after that seal then closures of it in an impeccable manner. Don't over stuff the wrap rather, make it exceptionally light so the filling has got adequate measure of space to buoy around. A hardened wrap won't benefit any for you. You can either fasten it by hand or utilization sewing machine.

Now, your neck wrap is ready to be used once its sewed. Although you can use the same wrap for as many times as you want to use it but its recommended that you replace the contents and wash the outer layer on a regular basis. If your frequency of using it is high, that means you should refill it after every 3 months or so.

Therefore, heated neck wraps act a a very useful thing especially for those individuals who suffer from neck pains and strains. It is a good idea to make such thing on your own instead of buying it from the shop as it can be a bit costly.
